SAN DIEGO – July 2, 2013 – ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), the
enterprise IT cloud company, today announced that CHRISTUS Health has
implemented ServiceNow software‑as‑a‑service to
consolidate and automate IT operational processes providing a single
view into more than 500 business and clinical applications as well as
other cloud services.
CHRISTUS Health is ranked among the top 10 Catholic health systems
in the U.S. by size, and has assets of almost $5 billion. The CHRISTUS
Health system includes more than 40 hospitals and facilities in seven
U.S. states and six states in Mexico, and is expanding into Chile.
CHRISTUS replaced HP Service Manager primarily due to its fragmented
functionality and inability to automate workflow. The healthcare
institution needed a single system of record to consolidate the
capabilities of its many standalone legacy tools and provide IT with
increased visibility across multiple sites. CHRISTUS also required
improved, efficient support for more than 30,000 associates including
doctors and nurses.
Using the ServiceNow IT Service Automation Application Suite,
CHRISTUS consolidated the management of incidents,
problems,
changes,
configurations,
requests and projects
as well as implemented a service
catalog and knowledge base. CHRISTUS also used the ServiceNow
Service Automation Platform to build two custom applications.
The first custom app allows the company to track enhancement
requests enabling the IT team to prioritize and focus on projects that
have the biggest impact. The second custom app streamlined the IT
order management process through the creation of a self‑service
request that contains all required information. Now, IT orders are
automatically routed and entered into Meditech, CHRISTUS Health's
accounting system, speeding the entire purchasing request process
while ensuring accuracy and auditability.
ServiceNow also helps CHRISTUS automate the management of IT assets.
Previously, spending on hardware and software was tracked on multiple
systems, spreadsheets and databases resulting in lack of overall
visibility. Utilizing ServiceNow IT Asset Management, CHRISTUS is now
proactively managing software contracts, hardware leases and services
renewals. With all of the information in one place, change and review
processes are automated and consistently performed.
"ServiceNow helps us run the business of IT more
efficiently," said Joshua Addington, ITSM system specialist,
CHRISTUS Health. "We plan on automating anything we do that is
repetitive and manual through ServiceNow to further increase our efficiency."
"Healthcare IT organizations are tasked with managing clinical,
business and imaging environments—all of which need to run non‑stop,
24/7, 365 days a year—to deliver quality patient care," said Beth
White, chief marketing officer, ServiceNow. "Through
consolidation, healthcare IT can automate their operations and give
them a single view into the overall health of their IT services."
